1.7218 / 25CrMo4
DIN 1.7218 / 25CrMo4 Steel is a common Chromium Molybdenum alloy steel as per DIN Standard. 25CrMo4 steel has high strength and toughness when the temperature is below 500°C. The machinability of din 1.7218 steel is good. The 25CrMo4 steel also has high hardenability and good welding performance. This materail is generally used in the quenched and tempered condition.

Quenched and Tempered (+QT) of W-Nr 1.7218 Steel
1. Heat din 1.7218 steel slowly to 880°C;
2. Soak at this temperature then quench in oil;
3. Temper as soon as 25CrMo4 steel reach room temperature;
4. Heat uniformly to the suitable temperature of 540°C;
5. Withdraw the material from the furnace and cool in the air.
Applications of DIN 25CrMo4 Steel
1.7225 steel is used for fasteners in the boiler and steam turbine which the working temperature is below 450°C. The 25CrMo4 steel is also good for high pressure with nut and flange,general mechanical loading of shafts,gears,bolts,studs,wheels.
