DIN 1.2311 / 40CrMnMo7 Steel is a common alloy tool steel which usually supplied in QT condition. The 1.2311 steel can give an excellent polished finish. DIN 40CrMnMo7 tool steel is one of the most widely used material for machine cut plastic moulds. This grade also provides excellent wear resistance.

Quenched and Tempered (+QT) of 1.2311 Steel
1. Heat din 1.2311 steel to the temperature of 820-850°C
2. Quench in the oil.
3. Withdraw and cool in the air.
4. Heat uniformly to the required temperature as per two hours / 25mm of total thickness.
5. Withdraw 40CrMnMo7 steel from the furnace and cool in air.
6. The usual tempering temperature is 300-400°C which depending on the hardness requirements.
Applications of 40CrMnMo7 steel
DIN 1.2311 plastic mold steel is good for the production of plastic moulds,such as die holders, zinc die casting dies, backers, bolsters and injection moulds. 40CrMnMo7 tool steel is also used for a variety of other applications such as shafts, rails and wear strips.
